Visually expressing the beauty of a unique audio experience.

Unwind is the culmination of over 20 years of research, passion and creative vision. The unique audio-cable product is unlike anything else currently available and employs patented technology to deliver recorded audio that it indistinguishable from the original live version. The effect is emotive and immersive, and the client asked us to develop a visual identity that captures the beauty of this experience.

Rather than trying to over-explain (and over-sell) the technology in an already saturated market, the marketing strategy focuses on the superior listening experience that the Unwind product produces. This strategic approach to the branding resulted in an identity that is strongly differentiated in the marketplace and stands out as a unique technological offering.

The brand positioning line, For the love of sound, further captures this ethos and appeals to a target market of dedicated, specialised and uncompromising listeners who care deeply about the experience of listening.

Inspired by the "unwound" cable technology and the graphic expression of a sound wave, a simplified, strongly identifiable signature-wave was developed for the logotype. The flow of the line reads as a handwritten ‘U’ enforcing the bespoke, handmade characteristic of the brand.

The extended visual identity is built around three main components. Black-and-white photography is combined with vivid colour overlays and the wave device. These come together to visually express the immersive listening experience as “beautiful moments”. The photography is emotive and sensual showing a moment in time. Each image captures the experience of a beautiful audio moment. The accent colours are beautifully vivid, expressing the purity of sound. They are inspired by theatrical stage lighting and beautifully, larger than life, performance. Applied as soft overlays, the colour creates a glow of beautiful light in the design. The wave introduces rhythm and movement. It flows through the design, visually expressing both sound waves and the “unwound” cable technology.

The visual identity seamlessly delivers the science of the product alongside an expression of the audio experience on the Unwind website. Beautiful imagery combines with technical diagrams to deliver this unique product narrative.
